Galileo’s second weekend
Happy Easter, folks! In observance of the holiday, I have risen today and shall perform in The Life of Galileo once again.
Fellow cast member Julie Ann Nevill forwarded this to the rest of the group:
PROCEEDINGS OF THE TRIAL AGAINST GALILEO GALILEI
It’s from the Vatican archives online, and you can see scans of an actual 1633 document signed by Galileo. It’s in Latin, so if anybody wants to translate, comment below.
Julie Ann also forwarded a Wall Street Journal article about one of Galileo’s own telescopes, the only surviving telescope which still has its optics intact, on display in Philadelphia. There’s a slideshow with some fascinating photos of the telescope, on which you can see handwritten notes by Galileo. Check it out:
Galileo’s Discoveries, 400 Years Later, Still Open Eyes
I’m off to the theatre soon. Today, Pro Rata is offering an “Inquisition Special.” If you come see the show today, Easter, you get two tickets for the price of one.
And, as usual, go to www.theatreprorata.org for info and tickets.
