It’s time once again for the Minnesota Fringe Festival here in Minneapolis. This is my third Fringe, and I gotta confess, I get less and less jazzed about the Fringe every year. It really is like a huge, citywide theatre party, and there’s a palpable feeling of community and shared excitement, but I just don’t have the time to devote to really getting the most out of it, and the novelty has been wearing off. My first Fringe was the last time I really threw myself into it wholeheartedly.

I bought a ten-show punch card, and kicked off my 2008 Fringe with my roommate’s show, An Intimate Evening with Fotis: Part II. Mike Fotis is a comedian based at the Brave New Workshop, and he’s one of the funniest people I know. He debuted his one-man, storytelling show at last year’s Fringe to much success, and this year, he’s doing a sequel. I saw it last night, and it was damn good. I highly recommend it.
