Greetings from summer camp
Monday and Tuesday were our first full days off, and when confronted with free time, I never know what to do with myself. Some of the cast returned to the Twin Cities for those two days, but I decided to stay in Bemidji. On Monday, Karen and I wanted to get the taste of Journey to [...]
The days are just packed.
Carin, Josh, and Kristen came to visit this weekend! They arrived Friday evening, just in time for dinner at Tutto Bene with about ten or so other Paul Bunyan folks. It was a great meal, but I’ve found that stuffing your face with pasta immediately before a show is inadvisable. Many other cast members had [...]
get on up
Last night’s show was much better than opening night. More relaxed, confident. We let it breathe. After the show, we headed to Cattails again for karaoke. This time Ari came along and performed an excellent rendition of James Brown’s “Sex Machine.” Sorry, this is the best my Blackberry could do in there: Later in the evening, [...]
Donkey Punch
On opening night, Eric left each of us an opening night gift in the dressing room. Mention of the “donkey punch” has been something of a motif during our rehearsal process. The funniest part is that, upon finding our gifts, almost none of us got the joke, at least not immediately.
We open tonight!
The Bemidji Pioneer has published a great article about Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Click below to read it. (You’d have to register for the site, but it’s free.) Dear Russ, Thank you. After living for several days in the empty shell that was once your domicile, your previous occupancy was made known to me. The wind, that sneakiest yet most immutable force, slid its tendrils through my open window and underneath the weathered dorm furniture. It emerged clutching your laminated 5″x7″ customized CCG card [...]
We have a show.
Some of us in the cast just finished watching My Favorite Year, partly to inform our work on Laughter, partly because it’s a good film. Wow, Mark Linn-Baker was young. I hope I get to wear a sweater vest as Lucas. Also, for the record, I want to grow up to be Peter O’Toole. When I returned [...]
Happy 4th of July!
Apparently, MSNBC has decided to celebrate Independence Day with a marathon of To Catch a Predator. Enjoy! … Our call time was a decadent 12:00 PM today. We ran each act twice, and the show is in damn good shape, considering it was only the fourth day of rehearsal. I can’t wait until we open…which, [...]
Bemidji, Day Four
Rehearsed the scenes without Max. We got lunch at the Keg ‘n’ Cork, where we had the single most incompetent waitress we’d ever seen. She was comically bad. Zach and I went to a radio station to record a spot for the show, which we did in no time at all (just me saying a [...]
Bemidji, Day Three
Thanks to our late night revelry (OK, so it was really tame and not that late), I slept in a little and neglected to do yoga. I drove to The Cabin coffee shop and got a Northern Lights mocha on the recommendation of Keith (thanks!), and went to rehearsal. We packed all of the Max [...]
