Bemidji, Day One
And so begins my first foray into summer stock, playing Lucas in Neil Simon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor at Paul Bunyan Playhouse. In preparation for my three weeks in the remote college/resort town of Bemidji, Minnesota, I packed only necessities. Clothes, bedding, toiletries, books, Toddy (homemade cold pressed coffee!), Star Wars Monopoly, Fluxx, etc. [...]
SadGrrl13 closes
Last night, SadGrrl13 came to a close. Thanks to everyone who came to see it! I’m really going to miss this show and the people who worked on it. I’m also going to miss having a glass bottle smashed over my head every night. I will not, however, miss cleaning off all the fake blood. [...]
A Visit to the Star Wars Exhibit
On Saturday, June 21st, Ed was kind enough to treat Nick, Carin, and me to comps at the Star Wars exhibit at the Science Museum. Thanks, Ed! The exhibit’s premise is shaky, I’ve gotta say, in that Star Wars has no scientific basis, nor does it ever attempt to adhere to scientific principles, strictly speaking. It’s [...]
Wake up, little Target.
Last night was SadGrrl13‘s pay-what-you-can. We had to add seats, And it seemed like half of the audience were friends of mine. It was a great show They were a great audience And I was in full socially awkward splendor, When saying hi and talking to friends after the show. Sitting in a Target store [...]
Bento
My bento has arrived! Goodbye, going out for overpriced sandwiches and greasy crap! Hello, healthy, appropriately-sized, home-packed lunches! This is part of my effort to eat more healthily and spend less money. I’ll bring my lunch to work! I’ll bring raw fruits and veggies to rehearsals! Now I just have to find the time to buy groceries [...]
Tomorrow night, Workhaus Collective presents a special party performance of SadGrrl13, the final show of Workhaus’ season! In true Workhaus fashion, come for the play, stay for the party. What: a performance of SadGrrl13, followed by fancy food, drink, and live music by Eliza Blue When: Thursday, June 19th at 7:00 PM Where: The Playwrights’ [...]
Lydia Howell’s glowing review of SadGrrl13 is available at the Twin Cities Daily Planet. Read it here: Theater note: “SadGrrl13″ is gut-wrenching and thought-provoking There’s plenty of blurb fodder in this one. SadGrrl13 hits with the brute force of a swan dive from a skyscraper into a wading pool—with cameras rolling. Expressionism on steroids. It’s a [...]
City Pages review of SADGRRL13
City Pages‘ Quinton Skinner has reviewed SadGrrl13. He really liked some of it, but not all of it. Check it out here: SadGrrl13 mines the internet for drama
Star Tribune reviews SADGRRL13
Graydon Royce’s review of SadGrrl13 is in the Star Tribune. You can read it here: Online predator, meet vigilante Some blurbage: “A smart production… Zoe Benston continues to build her credentials as one of the better actors in the small-theater scene… Ed Jones gives a creepy patina to the vigilante… As the unfortunate TV producer, [...]
