Doings

What else has been going on?! WHAT ELSE?!

I’ve seen a shitload of theatre lately. One of the shows I saw was Workhouse Theatre’s production of David Mamet’s Oleanna, and it was a pretty decent production. Some of you may know that that was the first show I did in undergrad. I am incapable of evaluating that play, because of nostalgic feelings. Also, I saw it because my buddy Jeff was in it. Thus continues our tradition of playing the same roles as each other (he has also played The Elephant Man).

We wrapped an episode of an MCAD student film TV series. It’s a mockumentary series (yes, like The Office) about MCAD itself, and I play a drawing and painting professor. I am greatly enjoying the experience, and I wish I could’ve shot even more. It’s terribly fun to play and improvise as an art professor, and writer/director/actor Brad Pearson has a very funny script.

My friends and colleagues Eric and Rin got married. It was a beautiful ceremony, and the reception was held at The Varsity, which was kickass. Best. Reception. Ever.

I’ve seen a lot of Twin Cities theatre friends lately. And not in a work setting. Like, socially. At parties and such. It has been glorious.

The guys at the table next to me here in Green Mill have what sound like thick Australian accents. I am jealous.

Any of the things I’ve mentioned could spawn longer posts in their own right, but oh well. If only I got paid to blog about myself. (Hint.)

Lynn Musgrave has cast me in the role of David in Starting Gate’s upcoming The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window. Yay!

I was invited to audition for a play called Ward 57, a world premiere directed by Michael Dixon at Florida Stages in West Palm Beach. It’s an incredibly sweet gig, and I did a decent audition. I’m not holding my breath, though.

I’m attending a callback for Theatre Pro Rata’s Metamorphoses. If you went to SLU, you’ll remember that we did that a few years ago (after I graduated).

The three plays I just mentioned are concurrent. That means I can only do one of them. Poopers.

I’ll be taking part in a roundtable at The Playwrights’ Center on Monday night! Come see it.

I also turn 27 on Monday. Hooray for not dying. (I may be speaking too soon, I know.)

Hung out with Brave New Workshop folks last night at Green Mill. Fun was had. Ninja Turtles and talking bat guano were drawn on napkins.

Well, my check has arrived, and I have to use the bathroom. Good night, folks!
