NO Improv

11Nov07

The New Orleans Improv Festival is going on right now. I am not there, but different sets of my friends — one from undergrad, one from here in Minnesota — are meeting each other. I am bewildered.

Jill Bernard, Dave Jennings, and Jen Scott are down there. Drum Machine and Vaudeville with a Pig are on the performance roster. So is Coldtowne. So is God’s Been Drinking. So is ComedySportz NOLA.

According to Kat, Dave Jennings (and possibly our other Minnesota improv friends Jen Scott and Jill Bernard, though I’m not sure if they were with him at the time) met some of our undergrad theatre friends, the guys I started doing improv with in “nameless!” and Project: Improv. Dave said he met Cubas. Also, Dave went to the D-Day Museum gift shop, where Kat and I used to work.

Jill Bernard posted on her LJ that she met Arthur Simon(e).

I really have the physical sensation of my brain splitting. These people meeting each other is beyond my comprehension. How could SLU theatre folk ever meet MN theatre folk? And here I am, not having any of that fun. Poop.

Related: In mid-December, I’ll be in N.O. myself and will see my MN friends Chris Kidder (is graduating at UNO) and hopefully Andrew Fafoutakis (currently attending LSU).
