Sloppy Update

26Oct07
  1. At the last minute, I discovered that I could audition for Starting Gate‘s upcoming show The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, directed by Lynn Musgrave. I got a callback, which will be this Saturday. Hooray for potential work!
  2. Despite my inability to turn out a decent monologue audition, I’ll be auditioning for Theatre Pro Rata‘s Metamorphoses in a couple weeks. You Louisiana folk may remember that Southeastern did that show several years back. There’s a pool. It’s pretty. Hooray for more potential work!
  3. I auditioned in front of Zach Curtis for Bemidji, Minnesota’s Paul Bunyan Playhouse this past weekend. It’s summer stock, which I’ve managed never to have done before. He offered me the role of Lucas Brickman in Neil Simon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor. I can’t wait to spend a few weeks in the boonies with drunken actors. Also, at the auditions, I saw many friends and made new ones. Hooray for friends and actual future work!
  4. I auditioned for, got cast in, and promptly lost out on a role in Flash Memory, a new short film by Kain Johnson, with whom I previously worked on The Cell Phone. My early to mid November conflicts were too great. Bummer for losing work (unpaid, but work nonetheless).
  5. Today, I auditioned for an MCAD student project during my lunch hour. It’s a TV series, actually. The director said that, even if he doesn’t end up using me in the role for which I read, he’d still want me to play someone else in other episodes. Hooray for not embarassing myself at an audition, and Hooray for more potential work!
  6. Things ended up working out with Theatre Limina‘s production of David SedarisThe SantaLand Diaries. The director double-cast my part, so there’ll be someone else to fill the role while I’m out of town. Hooray for immediate work!
  7. Because of SantaLand, I will be unable to play the Vulcan narrator — or even attendCommedia Beauregard‘s Klingon Christmas Carol fundraiser. Boo!
  8. Upon my return from the NTC tour, my agent sent me on a cluster of auditions, none of which resulted in a callback or a job. Boo!
  9. Originally, I was supposed to be performing Mad About Money II in Philadelphia yesterday, but the date got pushed back, and is tentatively scheduled for December 4th. Hooray for hanging onto a gig! NTC is still sending me to Seattle as scheduled, Nov 12-15.

Scheduling has been a nightmare lately, and my head almost exploded. I’m fine now.

Sunday will be brunch with the Louisiana crew! Woot!

I’ll be in New Orleans December 13th – 20th!

Oh, by the way, I saw Donald MarguliesSight Unseen at Sabes Jewish Community Center last night, and it was damn good. It stars Matt Sciple (directed King Lear), Lisa Kindall, Jim Pounds, and Dona Werner-Freeman. It closes Sunday, so hurry up and go see it!
