I’m now in rehearsal for the NTC special we’re taping in Seattle!
Since rehearsal is in the afternoon, I’m only working mornings at my day job for these two weeks. Unfortunately, one of these days — today, in fact– is Halloween. I haven’t been ordered to decorate a pumpkin this year, but I will have to leave [...]

Vehiculatude

29Oct07

The Good News: After all is said and done, my car will be practically like-new. Well, except for the exterior dings, scrapes, and scratches.
The Bad News: After all is said and done, it will have cost me about $700. And it’ll still have exterior dings, scrapes, and scratches.
You will not hear me complain, as the car was [...]

Sloppy Update

26Oct07

At the last minute, I discovered that I could audition for Starting Gate’s upcoming show The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, directed by Lynn Musgrave. I got a callback, which will be this Saturday. Hooray for potential work!
Despite my inability to turn out a decent monologue audition, I’ll be auditioning for Theatre Pro Rata’s Metamorphoses [...]

Remember a thousand years ago when I did an ad for Jockey? I had to dance around like an idiot (which I did quite successfully, I might add) wearing Jockey boxers and an undershirt. The premise was that people would submit videos of themselves dancing in Jockey products, and website visitors would vote for their [...]

The crew of the Enterprise in the new Star Trek film, to be directed by J.J. Abrams, is quickly getting cast. Here’s the story (Thanks, Kat!):
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071012/en_nm/startrek_dc
They’re in talks with Chris Pine (who, incidentally, is the same age as me) to play Kirk, they still need a Christopher Pike (the captain of the Enterprise before Kirk), [...]

Vote for Mike

11Oct07

So Mike Rylander, my NTC Mad About Money touring partner – the “Mike” I have referred to in my recent posts and spent the past month with —  is representing North Dakota in this year’s Cosmopolitan Magazine “Bachelor of the Year” contest. Or as Mike and I have referred to it, the “Douchebag Pageant.”
Anyway, he and the bachelors [...]

(Exactly two years after I last left Alaska.)
“Hi!” Mike shouted into the darkening wilderness as he and I walked down a narrow, gravel, mountain road, “My name’s Mike!”
We had been walking for a half hour and were almost out of daylight. If we couldn’t make it back to civilization when darkness fell, all we would have for illumination would be my phone’s [...]

I’m interrupting the travelogue to bring you another episode from my day job. (I arrived back in Minnesota Friday evening. I have fallen way behind in my blog, but I’ll catch up.)
Coworker (after asking me about my travels): “…and now you’re back in Minnesota.”
Me (sarscastic): “Yep. It’s exciting.”
Coworker (apparently missing the sarcasm): “No, it’s not!”
Later…
Coworker [...]

Thursday morning saw our departure from Anchorage. Our next stop would be Sitka, an island in Southeast Alaska, the same region as Juneau and Skagway. Sitka was the capital of the Alaska Territory until 1906, when it was moved to Juneau. Today, it’s a cruise stop like Skagway, but it’s a bigger, more functional town. Not [...]

Mike and I faced our biggest day yet (show-wise) on Wednesday. We drove to Wasilla, about 45 minutes or an hour outside of Anchorage, where we performed six shows at Wasilla Middle School. At least it was six shows at one school, so we didn’t have to break down, set up, or drive between shows. [...]
