NTC Tour – D-Day
Mike and I filled our Kia Spectra with snacks, luggage, and gasoline, and drove to North Dakota. Mike is using the tour as an opportunity to quit smoking, so he bought heaps of healthy snacks to help ween himself off of cigarettes.
We checked into the AmericInn in Moorhead, MN, which butts up against Fargo at the Minnesota-North Dakota border. Mike is from North Dakota — Minot, specifically — and his brother lives in Fargo with his fiancee, so we met up with them for a night of pub trivia and two-for-one appetizers at a smoky, cavernous sports bar called Playmakers. It was douchebag-packed! We performed admirably. Going into the final round, we were in third place, but we slid back to fourth or fifth after the final round. Oh, well.
I brought my old video camera along for the ride, hoping to document our travels. God knows if we’ll ever have anything edited together from it, but we’re having fun. Maybe a story will emerge.
Anyway, we have successfully inserted ourselves into North Dakota. Tomorrow, we’ll begin spreading deeper across the border, performing Mad About Money II for the first time in front of an audience.
Stand back, NoDak. Theatre Magic comin’ through.
